Problem
Partly due to the Corona period, the knowledge of internal audits and ISO 9001 has lagged behind by the quality employees of the organisation. By guaranteeing the quality of the various departments, it was important to train the employees and bring their knowledge back to a certain standard.
Plan
For this purpose, TOP, together with Damen Dredging Equipment, has chosen to offer a refresher course to the quality employees, in which all basic knowledge about internal audits and ISO 9001 was covered. This refresher course lasted 1 day and consisted of conveying general information, such as: gaining renewed knowledge of the audit process, interview techniques and objective reporting.
Execution
The refresher course was given by our TOP trainer Cesar Franken, in which the following was discussed:
- The purpose of an internal audit;
- The background and process of an internal audit (related to ISO standards);
- Drawing up an audit plan;
- Conducting and reporting an internal audit;
- Conducting interviews (communication skills);
- Drawing up an audit report.
In addition to the presentation, practical examples were discussed and the employees had to carry out interactive assignments.
How’s life now?
The evaluations showed that the topics discussed were very clear, there was a good balance between theory and practice and very good tips were received which will be applied in practice.
An annual refresher training is a good idea.
